Masai Mara : The Masai Mara, 1510 km2 of wildlife photographers heaven. Your view of the place depends alot on how you experience it. If you are serious about wildlife photography then stay at a camp deep inside the reserve for as long as you can afford. The more time you spend in the reserve the more you are rewarded. Make sure your camp uses 4wd vehicles and not matatus.
Famous for its big cats, the park does have the "big five" but you are doing well if you see a black rhino. The other drawcard of the Masai Mara is the wildebeest migration. The sheer numbers of wildebeest has to bee seen to be believed.
A classic East African safari destination.

Amboseli National Park : Amboseli is a place of stark contrast. Meaning a "place of water" in Maasai, Amboseli despite its sometimes dry and dusty appearance, has an endless water supply filtered through thousands of feet of volcanic rock from Kilimanjaro's snow melt. These underground streams converge into two clear water springs in the heart of the park.
There is alot to see in Amboseli, this lot was from just 2 days.

Amboseli National Park

Aberdare National Park : The park is located about 100 km north from Nairobi and stretches over a wide variety of terrains because it covers altitudes from about 7,000 feet (2,100 m) to 14,000 feet (4,300 m) above sea level.
Wildlife Photography in Aberdare can be a challenge with the lush forest. We only had one night there so did get a real chance to see it at its best.

Buffalo Springs National Reserve : The Buffalo Springs National Reserve is south of the Samburu National Reserve., which are in Northern Kenya.

Its quite a dramatic contrast with the lush grasslands of the more southern Maasai Mara and Amboseli. The big drawcard of these northern parks and reserves is the unique wildlife, ie the Grevy Zebra, reticulated Giraffe and the Gerenuk.
Well worth a visit, while in Kenya.

Lake Nakuru National Park : Lake Nakuru is one of the Rift Valley soda lakes at an elevation of 1754 m above sea level. It lies to the south of Nakuru, in the rift valley of Kenya and is protected by Lake Nakuru National Park.

The lake's abundance of algae attracts the vast quantity of flamingos that famously line the shore. Black and white rhinos have also been introduced.

Lake Nakuru National Park

Nairobi National Park : Nairobi National Park is a unique ecosystem by being the only protected area in the world close to a capital city. The park is located only 7 km from Nairobi city centre.
Just the fact how close this park is to Nairobi makes it worth a visit. Special for the chance to get the shot of an elephant with a multi story office building in the background!
Again we had only a day in the park and it was a wet grey day but still good fun.

Samburu National Reserve : The Samburu National Reserve is located on the banks of the Ewaso Ng'iro river in Kenya; on the other side of the river is the Buffalo Springs National Reserve in Northern Kenya. It is 165 km² in size and 350 kilometers from Nairobi and ranges in altitude from 800 to 1230m above sea level.
A lovely wild place and again vastly different to Kenya's main drawcards. Again we didn't have enough time here to take advantage of the place.

Samburu National Reserve

Shaba National Reserve : Shaba National Reserve is a protected area in northern Kenya to the east of the Samburu and Buffalo Springs national reserves.

A visual stunning place, the hills make for dramatic backdrops. I would have liked to spend more time here to get some better shots. A good place for landscape photographers as well as wildlife photographers.
