The very large main basin of the Aghlabid Basins. These cisterns were built in the 9th centruy to hold the towns water supply. In the middle of the largest (128m diameter) are the remains of a pavilion on which the rulers would come to relax on summer evenings. Kairouan, Tunisia; Landscape
